Haslemere’s women’s first team lost 5-2 at Henley in South Central Women’s Premier Division Two on Saturday.
Haslemere started well. An early Haslemere short corner whistled past the post, but the visitors kept pushing for the opener.
Henley scored the opening goal, pouncing on a rebound after a good save from Jo Burder in goal.
They quickly added a second to put the pressure on Haslemere.
Haslemere didn’t allow their heads to drop and continued to string a series of good passes together, resulting in several more short corners.
Haslemere converted a slick routine, with Cleo Buirski slotting the ball onto the backboard to make the score 2-1.
Henley upped the pressure and scored two quick goals before the break.
Haslemere upped their energy after half-time and had the better of the play early in the second half.
A quick counter attack almost resulted in an excellent team goal, but the Henley keeper made a superb save to leave the score at 4-1.
After soaking up plenty of pressure, Haslemere went on the break once more and Alice Toynton struck the ball from the top of the D into the left-hand corner of the goal to make it 4-2
Henley responded with a goal from a corner as they ran out 5-2 winners.

After going 3-1 down in the first half, Haslemere fought back to secure a share of the spoils.
Cleo Buirski, Alice Toynton and Cindi Pretorious (2) scored the goals as Haslemere rescued a point.
Haslemere’s men’s first team slipped to a 3-1 defeat at Staines in South Central Men’s Premier Division One on Saturday.
The visitors went 3-0 down before Andy Powell pulled a goal back.
