Frensham Scarecrow Festival made a welcome return after a six year break with more than 2,000 visitors coming out for it.
A total of 57 scarecrows were on display demonstrating the enthusiasm and support that residents have for the event organised by Clare Grist and Sharon Turner- Mumford.
Visitors were invited to vote for their favourite scarecrow and the top five were Peter Pan & Captain Hook, Stickman, The Lion King, Minions and The Fantastic Mr Fox.
Guardian Angel Carers of Farnham kindly sponsored the event and provided the hub for visitors to collect their scarecrow maps and drop off voting forms.
Director Tim Corry said: “Guardian Angels carers Farnham were proud to sponsor the Frensham Scarecrow Festival. It was lovely to see people of all ages taking part in the day and having fun.
“We raised money for our charity Phyllis Tuckwell as well as the main event charities. Supporting the community is important to us, we are honoured to have been the main sponsor for such a fantastic event.”
Volunteers from the Frensham Village Shop worked extended hours to provide ice cream and other items. Frensham British Legion let their base become scarecrow headquarters for the weekend and ran an all-day BBQ selling bacon rolls, burgers and tea and coffee.
Chairman Adam Paige commented how ‘delighted’ the Legion was to be able to help support another well run village event.
More than £400 was raised and was split equally between Farnham Food Bank and the Vine Centre.
