Advice on staying well and healthy over the winter months has been dispensed to around 400 pensioners at a drop-in event in Farnham.
Bosses at the Farnham Primary Care Network have hailed the success of the second annual Winter Wellbeing Hub.
The FPCN hosted last Friday’s event in Farnham Hospital on behalf of local GP practices for patients over 70 and their family carers.
The three-hour event showcased the many services and events around Farnham that could help people in the age and care bracket to live well during the winter.
Participants could get advice and information on everyone from befriending services and transport support to installing and using healthcare apps on a phone.
Farnham Assist, Surrey Age UK, Action for Carers Surrey, Right at Home and Friends Together Bereavement Support, Tech Angels and Citizens Advice West South West Surrey were just some of the organisations represented at the drop-in event.
Participants could also get their blood pressure checked while Macmillan and Phyllis Tuckwell offered tea and cake, respectively, at the successful event.
“The services we’ve got here today are specific to Farnham and this event has been really well received judging from the feedback we’ve had,” said Vikki Rigate, FPCN manager.
“Last year we only invited just 100 people so we’ve really expanded this time round.
“It’s really good to know that here, all in one place, are all the services available to them.
“It’s a one stop shop for things that can support them to live well during the winter.”
