The carnival isn’t over in Hale as a date has been circled on the 2025 calendar following a breakthrough meeting.
The Hale Carnival Committee can’t wait to get the party started after finishing a challenging year on a high note.
The 2024 event raised £7,000 for local schools, charities and community groups while the overall sum raised by the carnival since 2001 has passed £90,000.
There were concerns this year’s event would be the last with an appeal being made for new committee members ahead of their AGM.
The request was successful with a number of new faces bringing fresh enthusiasm and ideas to the table ahead of a “vibrant day of festivities” on July 5.
There’s also been a big change with long-serving chair, Sara Lee, passing over duties to Amanda Sergison-Main while thanking volunteers for their support.
“It’s been a privilege to work alongside such dedicated friends and volunteers,” said Sara, who has served on the committee since 2003.
While Amanda is tipped to bring “fresh energy and ideas” to the committee, some local help is sought for essential items like a generator to power the food tent, a beer cooling machine and mobile floodlighting.
They’re also keen to hear from potential volunteers, stallholders and the community with a fundraising quiz and games night planned for February 8 and May 10, respectively.
