A group which deserves a drink for keeping Farnham town centre safe is looking to raise the bar for residents, shoppers and visitors with an exciting year ahead.

With an influx of restaurants and venues set to open over the coming months, Farnham Pubwatch has invited newcomers to join its burgeoning group and keep the town safe.

The group – whose members include Borellis Wine Bar & Grill, William Cobbett, the Nelson Arms and pretty much every bar, pub and drinking establishment in town –  want to raise their profile to help police combat rising levels of anti-social behaviour.

The group which has operated and worked with the police for nearly 30 years wants to eradicate problems and maintain the safety of Farnham for everyone to enjoy.

With Brightwells nearing completion and the Farnham Infrastructure Programme underway, Pubwatch is predicting that next year will be a wonderful time for workers, visitors and residents.

But despite Farnham being fairly safe, there are still incidents of criminal damage, anti-social behaviour, drug use and assault.

Residents have reported the building site at Brightwells has been used by unruly youths who get up to no good.

Pubwatch members are owners and operators of licensed premises who meet monthly with Surrey police and Waverley Borough Council to discuss any issues by sharing information and CCTV. They also have the power to vote on banning orders for any individual who commits anti-social behaviour.

The group are inviting new businesses to join them in helping to keep the town safe. For more information head to https://schemelink.co.uk/schemesite-home.php?s=531
