Hale Community Centre has something for everyone.
That’s the message from its manager after showcasing its many classes and activities at an open day.
“We want people to know what we have on offer,” said Melissa Salisbury.
“There are classes and groups for all ages, from toddler to students, to older people.
“We also have the Community Fridge and Cupboard open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays where anyone can come and pick up food which would otherwise go to waste. You don’t have to be referred to come, you can just come and know that you are helping to save good food from landfill.”
There aren’t many classes that the Hale Road centre between the school and family centre doesn’t offer with a toddler group, book club, seniors coffee morning and job club available.
There’s also exercise and cookery classes, family support groups, a youth centre, a pop-up café and classes run by private hirers.
There are rooms available for rent and a community garden which won a ‘Level 4 Thriving’ award in last year’s Britain in Bloom It’s Your Neighbourhood competition.
Visitors also got the chance to try their hand at crafts and balloon modelling at the open day with further highlights including cream teas, music from Cool Yukes and free food from the Community Cupboard.
Hale Community Centre is between the school and family centre and is open Monday to Friday from 9am, for more details call the centre on 01252 722362 or visit their website at halecommunitycentre.org.uk
