Students at a Tilford school have been setting the pace in their physical education after the opening of a new running track.

This summer, All Saints Church of England Infant School installed the track following dedicated fundraising efforts by parents, pupils, and local community groups.

The school is committed to placing sport and outdoor learning at the heart of its curriculum. One example includes the 7x7 Challenge, where children are encouraged to complete seven activities by the age of seven. One key goal in the challenge is for students to run for seven minutes without stopping.

The track was completed after the community's collective support, with parents, teachers, and residents all contributing by running, walking, and cycling to raise funds. A total of £20,850 was raised, with the majority of the funds coming from the annual Tilford run, organised by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association in May.

Many children from the school also set up their own fundraising pages and encouraged friends and relatives to sponsor them. One parent, Nick Kemp, raised more than £1,950 for the school by running 114 kilometres non-stop with a group of friends.

Headteacher Brigid Walters said: "The children at All Saints are absolutely thrilled to have their new running track and have been using it every day: at play and lunchtimes, in their PE lessons and to try and achieve their 7x7 challenge of running for seven minutes without stopping.

“Many different stakeholders came together to make this vision a reality. “
