A Farnham charity has thanked villagers for their “amazing” donation as a get-together in Tilford has raised £2,500.
Organisers of this year’s Tilford Village Fete recently handed over the sum to Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care.
The July event organised by a dedicated committee was a massive success with more than 50 stalls, street food and drink, live music and entertainment in and around the marquee and green.
The festivities continued well into the evening with solo and emerging artists playing throughout the day and Rollercoaster headlining the party.
“The Tilford Village Fete is a celebration of village life and a wonderful demonstration of what can be achieved and what fun can be hand when local families, friends and businesses all come together,” said a committee member.
“The fete not only puts on a fantastic event, but always set out to donate to worthy local causes, giving all fete supporters the opportunity to give something back.”
Helene Burke, community fundraiser at Phyliss Tuckwell, gave a “huge thank you” to committee members, revellers and sponsors for their support and donation.
She said: “The donation of £2,500 is an amazing amount of money which could pay for over three weeks’ care from one of our Hospice at Home nurses, who visit patients who have chosen to be cared for, and to spend their last days, in the comfort and familiarity of their own homes.”
Phyllis Tuckwell also raised an additional £359 on its stall as it sold berries donated by Hall Hunter’s Tuesley Farm.
