The season of goodwill has arrived in Farnham as two of the town’s most generous groups are hitting the road to spread some festive cheer.
The Lions and Round Table are in the mood for giving with the former delivering to families and need and the latter helping Santa on his pre-Christmas sleigh tour around the town.
Residents filled just under 2,000 yellow bags with festive and essential goodies through their Christmas Parcels collection with some well-wishers also dropping off donations at Jo’s Neuro Café.
“Our thanks to everyone who donated,” said Phil Williams of the Farnham Lions, adding: “We received enough donations to refill 250 bags and have some left over to share with Brambleton Hall and Hale Community Centre.”
The streets of Farnham will be filled with Christmas music and bright lights as Santa will begin a ten-day tour next Tuesday (Dec 10) with the Round Table’s help.
The first leg through south Farnham will begin at The Fairfield before taking in Bridgefield, Tilford Road, St George’s Road, Alfred Road, Arthur Road, Weydon Hill Road and Edward Road.
The ride is supported by school PTAs, Farnham Fire station and the Farnham41 Club among others while money donated from the festive tour will continue to go to Farnham Foodbank.
“We are aware of the hours and hard work involved in setting up and running the Santa’s Sleigh initiative and how much it is appreciated by the local community in Farnham, along with everyone at the foodbank,” said their project manager, Harriet Lanyon.
