The world seems increasingly divided but a group of women were united when they prayed for peace in Gostrey Meadow.

Around 35 women and several children took part in an interfaith meeting on September 22 in central Farnham to ‘pray for peace in a divided world’.

The event was organised jointly by the Anglican parish of Badshot Lea and Hale and the Farnham Ahmadiyya Muslim Women’s Association but was also attended by Quakers, Roman Catholics, Anglicans and women of no particular faith affiliation.

A spokeswoman from the Parish of Badshot Lea and Hale said: “We wanted to show unity but more importantly we wanted to pray together for peace.

“There is world conflict along religious and cultural lines and no conflict is ever solved by force but by people coming together as peacemakers.

“We were delighted that so many turned out to pray and hope this will be the first of many such gatherings.”
