The 1,000th ticket has been sold for the inaugural Alton Arts Festival, which will take place from July 5 to 14.

With more than 60 events spanning contemporary and classical music, theatre, comedy, literature and art, the festival promises to be an unmissable cultural experience for Alton residents and visitors.

Director Annie Lancaster said: "As this is the first year of running the Alton Arts Festival, we really had no idea how ticket sales would progress.

“However, the committee set out with a great deal of optimism, enthusiasm and ambition, and it's truly wonderful to see the events selling so well.

“This milestone of selling our 1,000th ticket is a huge tribute to our programming leads, who have done such an incredible job curating a truly world-class festival line-up."

The festival aims to offer something for everyone in its programme. From captivating, intimate musical performances to thought-provoking panel discussions and hands-on art workshops, there will be so much to enjoy at this eagerly anticipated event.
