There were plenty of opportunities to watch the Birdie on Hankley Common as a golf day in aid of Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care raised more than £18,000.
There was a hole load of fun and games with 88 golfers swinging into action for the much-loved good cause.
The ‘swing’ was welcomed with coffee and bacon rolls before a shotgun signalled the start of the 18-hole Stableford competition.
One of the players succeeded in getting a hole-in-one on the day and made a donation to Phyllis Tuckwell to celebrate.
Fiona Chapman, event fundraiser at Phyllis Tuckwell, said: “We would like to thank Hankley Common Golf Club and all of the golfers who took part in this hugely successful golf day.
“£18,000 is a fantastic amount of money, which could cover the cost of the whole of our Living Well service for almost two weeks.
“Supporting over 630 patients a year, through individual and group sessions, medical, nursing and therapeutic care, practical advice and support, and group sessions for carers, this service is vital for patients and families who need help living everyday life with their illness.”
Not only was there a golf competition but Farnham Rotarians and Friends of Rotary organised a tombola which raised more than £800 for the hospice care charity.
They also provided much appreciated doughnuts which were shared at two points on the course. Several local businesses sponsored holes on the course.
Phyllis Tuckwell needs to raise more than £25,000 a day to continue providing palliative and end-of-life care to adult patients and families living with an advanced or terminal illness.
It is also building a new hospice in order to increase the amount of care it can offer and is running a fundraising campaign for this with £1million to raise. To support the hospice visit pth.org.uk
