While traffic chaos ensues south of the A31 with the ongoing closure of Wrecclesham Road, residents in north Farnham are also set for some minor – albeit much later – disruption with work starting this week in Upper Hale.

Work to support a new 20mph speed limit has started on Upper Hale Road with changes including four raised tables and improved pedestrian crossings.

New road signs and markings between the junctions with Sandy Hill Road and Wood Road are coming with work taking place overnight over five weeks.

Upper Hale Road will be open during the day but will be closed weekdays from 8pm to 6am with temporary traffic lights in place between October 28 and November 1.

Surrey County Council have thanked locals for their patience and have asked residents to keep the road clear during the works otherwise vehicles may be towed to another location.

Onsite information boards will have details of date changes while internet users can search for Upper Hale Road at https://one.network/

As a result of the closure the Stagecoach service number five between Farnham and Aldershot will change after 8pm each evening.

The service will be diverted via Castle Street and Folly Hill in both directions, which means that East Street, Farnham Community Hospital, Hale Road and Upper Hale Road will not be served while the road closures are in place.

This will also impact the first service of the day.

The work is part of the Farnham Infrastructure Programme, for more details, visit surreycc.gov.uk/farnhamprogramme
