The artificial pitch at the Anstey Park Enclosure was in perfect condition to welcome Alton’s youth team on Monday night.

While grass surfaces across the country were recovering from the ravages of Storm Bert last Saturday, the under-18 Brewers had a 3-1 win at home to Ash United in the Allied Counties Youth Football League West Division.

It was 1-1 at half-time, with Alton scoring in the 24th minute. Further goals in the 46th and 67th minutes clinched a victory which put the Brewers top of the table, a point clear of Fleet Town and Ash.

The young Brewers are at home to Cove in their next match on December 9 at 7.45pm.

Alton’s under-23 side have a trip to Simply Soccer Spartans in the Aldershot & District Football League Under-23 Development Division on Saturday at 2pm.

They will be hoping for better fortune than in their last game, an 8-0 defeat at Farnborough North End Athletic in the ADFA Cup on November 16.

Alton’s women’s team are at home to Basingstoke Town in the Invitation Cup on Sunday at 2pm.

Their previous fixture was a 4-0 win at home to Pace in the Hampshire County Women’s Football League Division 2 on November 17.

As the Herald went to press on Tuesday night, Alton’s men’s first team were due to play Epsom & Ewell in the Combined Counties Football League Premier Division South. They have another home league game on Saturday against Chipstead, kick-off 3pm.

Petersfield Town’s under-18 girls defied the weather to record a 6-0 victory at home to Salisbury’s under-18s last Saturday.

The Rams’ under-23 home game against Laverstock & Ford Reserves last Saturday, and the under-18 boys’ match at home to Havant & Waterlooville last Sunday, were both postponed.

On Saturday at 3pm Petersfield’s men’s first team look to have an even battle in prospect when they meet Bexhill United at Love Lane.

The Rams are fourth in the Southern Combination Football League Premier Division table, one place higher than their visitors, and the sides are locked together on 29 points.

Last Saturday’s men’s first team game at Saltdean United was postponed.

Also on Saturday, Petersfield’s under-18 girls host AFC Totton, kick-off 10.30am, and the men’s under-23 side travel to United Services Portsmouth Reserves at 3pm.

Petersfield’s women’s team are away to Aldershot Boys & Girls Youth Ladies on Sunday at 2pm.

Alresford Town host Amesbury Town at Arlebury Park in the Wessex League Division 1 on Saturday at 3pm.

In the Hampshire Premier Football League Senior Division last Saturday, Liphook United used the artificial pitch at Oakmoor School in Bordon to host their 4-2 home defeat by Bishops Waltham Dynamos.

Reece Beattie scored Liphook’s goals, with Ryan Daunton named Liphook’s man of the match. Jude Gray, Jamie Hayball, Jack King and Lewis Shann scored for Bishops Waltham.

On Saturday Liphook host Liss Athletic in the local derby, kick-off 2pm. Liss’s home game with Stockbridge last Saturday was postponed, as was Whitehill & Bordon’s trip to Locks Heath.

Headley United hosted a goal-packed encounter with AFC Netley in the Hampshire Premier Football League Division 1 last Saturday.

At half-time the score was only 1-1, but after a crazy second half the visitors emerged with a 7-4 victory.

Zach Benstead bagged a brace for Headley, with their other goals coming from Daniel Sworn and substitute Jonathan Way.

Lucas Wood netted Netley’s opener in the 27th minute, and Callum Crotty grabbed a hat-trick in the 48th, 57th and 74th minutes. Matt Millmore scored in the 54th minute, and substitute Zak Schmedlin came off the bench to strike in the 73rd and 80th minutes.

In the Wessex League Division 1, Clanfield won 1-0 at home to Cove in front of 57 spectators at Havant & Waterlooville’s Westleigh Park ground. Eric Kerage scored the winner in the 33rd minute.

The visitors will feel at home when Badshot Lea host ninth-placed Westfield in the Isthmian League South Central Division at Westfield Lane in Wrecclesham on Saturday at 3pm.

The Baggies are currently bottom of the league, 12 points adrift of 18th place and safety, and are still searching for their first win having drawn three and lost 12 of their first 15 matches.
