Frensham Pond Sailability has celebrated one of its most successful seasons this year.
These successes came not just from the prestigious European and national events but also from triumphs closer to home where individuals progressed in learning and improving their sailing skills.
Farnham Lions president Simon Moran-Smith came to the Annual Forum of Sailability to join in the celebrations and present the Farnham Lions Endeavour Trophy to Judith Riggs.
Paul Phillips was European champion in the Liberty class at the Hansa European Championships at Sneek in Holland.
Mike Everitt was UK Hansa Liberty champion and entered the World Deaf Sailing Championships at Nida in Lithuania.
The club won the Ben Ainslie Trophy - given for success in the Hansa Travelling Trophy Series - for the 17th consecutive year,
In January Farnham Sports Council presented awards to Paul Phillips (Disability Sports Award), Ivor Barrett (Service to Sport, Leadership and Dedication) and Kate Whyatt (Volunteer of the Year).
Haslemere Sports Awards went to Kim Davies (Sport Award for the Disabled) and Thalya Ambroziak (Young Coach of the Year).
Club awards, some of which were presented by Simon Moran-Smith, went to Rose Barden (Wisley Foundation Youth Endeavour Cup), Philip Cook (Harry Kennington Cup), Mike Everitt (Thursday Afternoon Racing Group), Greg Parker (Thursday Afternoon Development Group), Kate Hedley (Richard Smallwood Trophy) and Lisa Skirrow (Sailing Captain’s Trophy).
The charity had many other things to celebrate - a new boat, docpaul, donated by Paul and Hong Davies, three day trips on an adapted catamaran in The Solent, and improved facilities.
There was a record number of members in 2024 - particularly young people - more sailing sessions, and an increasing number of sessions for schools. It was a most enjoyable and very successful year.
