Members of an indoor cycling fitness spin class at Champneys Forest Mere in Liphook are gearing up for the final stage of a year-long charity challenge.

Rider Stephen Buckley said: “It was a dark early morning in late December last year, just before the Christmas holiday. It was suggested our class could attempt a double spin lesson - that's 90 minutes rather than the 45-minute normal lesson.

“From that comment by club manager Evelyn Duro, the Champneys Forest Mere Spin Challenge was born.

“We did a 90-minute class in January, but the challenge had only just started. Evelyn added five minutes for February, a further five minutes for March. By July our spin class was two hours.

“Adding five minutes a month means our December class will be a gruelling two hours 25 minutes.

“We have raised £1,200 for a very deserving local charity, The Rosemary Foundation. Our last challenge is at 10am on December 21.”
